The First Crop-A-Lot

Julie and Laurie Ann showed up to catch up on some of their projects on Saturday. Julie had every intention of finishing, or at least hoped to finish, her mini album on a great pond she built in her backyard and Laurie Ann is diligently working on her little guy's baby album (he's almost a year!). But as fate would have it, Julie took off on a totally different direction.

Upon reviewing one of the magazines in Jan's resource library, Julie set off to create her own word book, Love, based on the Chipboard Album by BoBunny. Her graphic design background lends itself well to both creativity and 'figuring things out'. She quickly did some mathematical computations, bought some card stock and made a bee line to the Cricut die cutting machine to cut out those letters! By the end of the day, she had completed the book, and just needed to add some photos and fasten the book together. Awesome job, Julie!

Laurie Ann worked on her album and found ideas from Julie and Jan to create a great page of Dad and the little guy! She tried her hand at a new technique, sanding! This is where you take either a nail file or sandpaper (in this case, a sandpaper file) and sand the edges of your paper or letters for a distressed look. It came out great!
Jan also brought a supply of scrapbooking supplies - mostly the essentials and some paper lines that you won't find locally! She set up her Design Bar where participants can buy embellishments a la carte instead of buying a full package of items. This is a great way to purchase something and mess around with it on a page layout before committing to buying a package of something and not liking it. Items start at a nickle and range up to $1.00. Basic cardstock is 55 cents! What a bargain!
Join us next month - it's always the last Saturday of the month. Don't worry - I'll remind you! I the meantime, Happy Scrapping!
- Jan
