The 1st Day of School

Well, school started in S. FL yesterday with the outer bands of Fay hitting Florida! Is this a sign of the upcoming school year? Will it be a drama-filled year?

Did you take pictures of your kids going off to school? Here's a neat idea: grab a piece of paper & have your child sign his/her name on it - printing or cursive - however your little one writes right now. Then at the end of the school year, grab that same piece of paper & have your child write their name again. It's really cool to see how your child progresses with their penmanship throughout the school year.

What other ideas do you have for saving school memories? Share them with us over the next month & one lucky winner will receive a goodie from Remember When Creations!

I miss not getting ready for school my throat always gets a big lump when it is fall and i see the school bus loaded with kids going home with the treasures that they have made,
Always photos the 1st week and with their friends on the street they liveon.

panted hand prints of their hands and feet.

i measure the wall so we can see how tall they are by Christmas.

and i aways let them tell me the things that they are thankful for after school
. Its always hard to start school so i tell the girls always introduce them self to the New kids, that is the best way to make friends. lasting friends.
thanks for the giveaway.
peace out

I loved scraping the first day of school. Instead of taking a photo of my son facing me with his new clothes and backpack, I liked taking a picture of him going off to school from the back. Just like I saw him.

I love saving the kids certificates and awards and putting them in the school album with their picture for the year! I also scann those really large art projects & then resize them to include in the scrapbook, or print out in 12x12 and use as paper!

I always take pictures the first and last day of classes for the school year. I have a large plastic folder with dividers for each year that I keep the particular photos, momemtos, and scrapbook paper and embelishments in for storage until I am ready to scrap them.

I take pictures of my kids during the first day of school and during their recognition day when classes end. I keep their ID cards and include them in one of my LO's for tha school year.I also keep their class pictures.

Thanks,

My children are adults so scrapbooking was practically unheard of then. The first scrapbooks I made were their senior scrapbooks. I think the most important thing is to keep photos in order using whatever system works for you. Add the memorabilia or keep it in oder in a similar system. Then you won't have to sort thirty years of photos someday! LOL

My kids are in preschool, and I am altering file folders to keep items from each school year, like art and progress reports. And we always take pictures on the first and last day of school so we can see how much they have changed over the year!

My story is similar to Wendy's. I had never heard of scrapbooking when my kids were little and starting school. But I did take them to school on their 1st day and get a picture of them at their desk. I also saved their best school papers/artwork in a box. Now I just need to get busy and pull all out that out and scrap it :)
